This semester I was the Account Executive for Hill Communications Upstate Medical University. Upstate Medical University’s mission is to improve the health of Central New Yorkers and beyond through education, research and healthcare.
Our team worked closely with the Upstate Mobile Mammogram Van team to encourage more women to sign up for breast cancer screenings in the Central New York area through social media. The van parks in various locations throughout Central New York. Screenings are open to women 40 and older by appointment.
Our Hill Communications team made weekly Instagram and Twitter posts we called “Where’s the Van” with details of the van’s whereabouts and how to sign up for screenings. We also created posts recognizing national and international holidays, often connected to breast cancer and women empowerment. Our freshman intern, Kendall Hymes, pitched the idea to make a “Where’s the Van Calendar” which she executed through weekly calendar posts to the Mammogram Van’s social media accounts. Our brainstorming meetings included working through new taglines, Instagram and Twitter handles, and ideas for different ways to encourage people to sign up for a screening.
I want to thank my awesome Account Supervisor, Dillon Williams, for his outstanding organization and consistent guidance throughout the semester. I applaud him for bringing on a new client to our firm with open arms. I loved getting to know Elizabeth VanBeuren, Julia Sassoon and Kendall Hymes through our weekly meetings and firm-wide events. I am forever grateful for the experiences Hill Communications have given me. I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned from Hill Comm and bring my new skills to my future endeavors.
Thank you to the Mammogram Van team at Upstate Medical! We hope you enjoyed our time together as much as Hill Communications did. We can’t wait to see what the next Hill Communications team can do for you!
